I get exactly the same error message.

However, I tried spwakeup -site:http://myweb.org -log\c:\temp\splog.txt.  It errored out before writing the log.

I also tried using a sites.conf with no luck either.

Please advise.

Do you run this on the server?

I got the same error when I run it from my machine, but it worked when I run it on the server.

I am seeing the same error and I am running it on the server.

I am just trying to run one site it writes that it is adding that top level site then I see the error.

If anyone has any suggestion let me know

Thanks

I debugged this and determined that app is running stsadm in the background to enum the sites:

stsadm -o enumsites -url http://localhost

If the 12 hive is not in your path or you are not running spwakeup from the Bin folder of the 12 hive you will get this error.

Once I determined this I could get it to work without incident :)

This is what I get for not checking in on my own project for 2 months.  The answer given above is correct, of course.  You need to have your 12 hive in your path.  So sorry for not including that rather important bit of information in any of my previous descriptions.

The new version that I just released yesterday gets rid of that requirement, by the way.
